SanDisk to Start Shipping 16GB Memory Cards

SanDisk, maker of Flash memory products and acquisition target of Samsung, will begin shipping microSDHC cards and Memory Stick Micro (M2) cards with a capacity of 16GB starting in October. The microSDHC card will cost $100, with the M2 version of the same capacity costing $130. Not all cell phones can accept 16GB cards, so it is wise to check before purchasing additional storage. Among other things, this adds a new twist to the whole “iPhone vs. T-Mobile G1” debate. The iPhone still comes in 8GB and 16GB capacities. With its MicroSD slot and SanDisk’s new card, the G1 can store 16GB, too.

Tom Clancy’s EndWar Trailer

Ubisoft has released new trailers for Tom Clancy’s EndWar, an upcoming real-time tactics game designed by Ubisoft Shanghai for the Nintendo DS, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, and Xbox 360 platforms, to be released on November 4, 2008 in North America and November 7, 2008 in Europe. A PC version is planned for release at a later date.

Arrest on Bonaire after Dutch woman disappears

Police on the Dutch island of Bonaire in the Caribbean have made an arrest in connection with the disappearance of the young Dutch woman Marlies van der Kouwe, according to media reports.

The 24-year-old was last seen being dragged from her bike in the middle of the night last weekend.

Van der Kowe is doing an internship in a pharmacy shop on Bonaire.

The Halflife2.net forums claim to have received these requirements from Valve marketing VP Doug Lombardi:

OS: Windows Vista, XP or 2000

CPU: 3.0 GHz P4, Dual Core 2.0 or AMD64X2 (or higher)

RAM: 1 GB for XP / 2GB for Vista

DISC DRIVE: DVD-ROM Drive

HARD DRIVE: At least 7.5 GB of free space

VIDEO: Direct X 9 compatible video card (Video card must be 256 MB or more and should be a DirectX 9-compatible with support for pixel shader 2.0)

“German SpecialForces”storm KLM plane in Cologne

German specialforces stormed a KLM plane in Cologne on Friday morning and arrested two terrorists according to news organisation CNN which quoted local media reports. The plane was believed to be bound for Amsterdam.

According to initial reports quoting the German news website of Bild, the two men arrested were a 23-year-old Somali and a 24-year-old German with a Somali background.

The police are reported to have found a suicide note in the home of the men whom they have been watching for two months.

The KL 1804 flight to Amsterdam was due to leave Germany just after 7am with 48 passengers on board, reports Dutch public broadcaster NOS.

Shortly before departure two terrorist suspects were removed from the plane, a KLM spokesman told NOS.

The plane arrived at Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport at around 9.15am.
