Square Enix has just released a new trailer for Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and it shows off a lot of gameplay clips featuring the main character, Adam Jensen.

Body modifications played a major role in the earlier Deus Ex titles, and you’ll see a lot of them put to good use in the following video, which shows Jensen using nanotech in lots of stealth and combat scenes.

Mass Effect 2 Demo Released

Posted in 3rd person games, FPS games, gamer, Games, RPG games, Sci fi with tags , , , , , , , on June 15, 2010 by nunetherlands

EA today released a playable demo for Mass Effect 2, allowing you to try out the sci-fi RPG sequel. The demo is now available for PC and Xbox 360.

The demo includes the first two missions in the full game plus one bonus mission which publisher Electronic Arts says totals about 90 minutes worth of gameplay.

The 1.87GB PC download can be found on Bioware (direct link for English demo), GH, AtomicGamer, FanGaming.

In addition, BioWare plans to release the previously announced Overlord DLC for Mass Effect 2 on Tuesday. The new mini-campaign of five levels on one planet where you have to fight off an alien AI, will be sold for 560 BioWare points (about $7).

In the demo, players step into the role of Commander Shepard and must escape from a Cerberus space station under siege. Players can jump ahead to a later mission where they must rescue Subject Zero, a hardened, dangerous criminal from a heavily guarded prison ship.

Once they play the demo, players will be able to create a save and carry over their character along with the experience points, story decisions, achievements and weapons earned into the full version of the game – picking up right where they left off, on both PC and Xbox 360.

BioWare also announced today that players already in the game can download a new game add-on called “Overlord”, adding five new areas and two new achievements.

Available June 15, the game add-on is available for 560 Microsoft points and on PC for 560 BioWare points. Also on June 15, BioWare is releasing a new premium theme based on Omega and new avatar items for Xbox Live will follow on June 17.

Aliens vs. Predator *Demo Patched*

Posted in gamer, Games with tags , , , , , , , on February 6, 2010 by nunetherlands

Developer Rebellion has apologized for matchmaking problems suffered by players of the PC demo for Aliens vs. Predator:

Unprecedented demand for Aliens vs. Predator following the release of the cross-platform demo yesterday morning brought to light matchmaking issues on the PC platform resulting in players having to wait to join games, or even not find games at all.

We’re pleased to say later in the day the issue was corrected and a small patch to the PC executable next time you launch it from Steam  will have you finding and playing games using Quick Match as it was intended.

While this issue did not affect the Xbox 360, we are, with SEGA’s assistance investigating reports of a similar nature on the PlayStation 3 and working flat out on a solution.

The full game features the ability to browse for and create games but for the purposes of simplicity the demo was limited to matchmaking, alongside the ability to set up groups with friends which mitigated yesterday’s issues for many. We’re really sorry that this issue tainted a day in which we saw many people get hands on with AvP for the first time and we’re hugely gratified by the positive feedback to the game.

Aliens vs. Predator arrives for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in North America on February 16 then for Europe on February 19.

Discontinuation of Xbox LIVE for Original Xbox Games

Posted in entertainment with tags , , , , on February 5, 2010 by nunetherlands

Marc Whitten says:

On April 15 we will discontinue the Xbox LIVE service for original Xbox consoles and games, including Xbox v1 games playable on Xbox 360 and Xbox Originals. I want to start by saying this isn’t a decision we made lightly, but after careful consideration, it is clear this will provide the greatest benefit to the Xbox LIVE community.

$100 Xbox 360 60GB Live Starter Pack Announced

Posted in entertainment, Games, tech news, Technology with tags , , , , , , , on October 29, 2008 by nunetherlands

Microsoft has announced that a $100 Xbox 360 60GB Xbox Live Starter Pack will hit retailers this November, packing a 60GB hard drive, Xbox 360 headset, ethernet cables, and three-month Xbox Live Gold subscription.  While Microsoft began packing the 60GB HDD with $300 Xbox 360 Pro models earlier this year, the larger-capacity drive had not been available to those that owned the previous Pro models, which were bundled with a 20GB hard drive.  Until now, the only option for more capacity has been the $140 160 GB hard drive, also bundled with the $400 Xbox 360 Elite model. For those that bought the Xbox 360 without a sizeable storage device, Microsoft is offering free memory cards and a discount on the 20GB hard drive.

In other Xbox 360 related news, Engadget has the scoop on the exclusive debut of high definition Netflix streaming on the Xbox 360. The technology blog has learned that the Xbox 360 will not only be the only video game system to let viewers stream movies and TV episodes from Netflix in high definition, but also the world’s first medium to do so. The Xbox 360 will offer HD streaming before any other platform, including Netflix’s own “Watch Instantly” portal.  This movie watching innovation will be available for the first time on November 19, 2008, when the New Xbox Experience launches. Xbox Live Gold members who are also Netflix subscribers will be able to stream movies in high definition from Netflix on Xbox Live at no additional cost.
