Zwartboek best Dutch film ever

The online voting round, in which 50,000 people participated, was organised by the public TV channel, Nederland 2, together with the Dutch Film Festival and the TV network, the VPRO. Eddy Terstall’s “Simon”, a film whose main theme is euthanasia with an Amsterdam backdrop, claimed second place, while “Soldaat van Oranje” – also by Paul Verhoeven – came in third. Another Verhoeven film, “Turks Fruit”, which was voted best film of the century in 1999, ended in fifth place.
