Court throws out MS cannabis case

The Dutch Supreme Court has dismissed legal proceedings for growing cannabis against a man who suffers from multiple sclerosis. Although the cultivation of cannabis is illegal in the Netherlands, the Supreme Court decided the man’s situation called for special measures and threw out the charges.

Together with his wife, the man grew his own cannabis which he used to reduce the pain and spastic movements caused by his disease. He would not buy from “professional” farmers, since he found their product polluted with chemicals. He used what he grew only to meet his personal needs.
