Rotterdam police sergeant sacked for spying

The Rotterdam police force has dismissed a sergeant who allegedly doubled as a spy for the Moroccan secret service. The affair came to light when the Dutch national security service received a tip about the man. He is accused of passing police information on to the Moroccan secret service.

Following an internal investigation, the Rotterdam police dismissed him for “serious dereliction of duty”. The Public Prosecutor’s Office says it will not prosecute the policeman because it has insufficient evidence to do so.
